Textile Minister, Anand Sharma has said that the textile industry which is the second largest employer after Agriculture will generate 15.8 million more jobs by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan.
Textile Minister, Anand Sharma has said that the textile industry which is the second largest employer after Agriculture will generate 15.8 million more jobs by the end of the 12th Five Year Plan. It employed 105 million as of March 2011 and will now employ 121 million. Sharma also said that in conjunction with various stakeholders including representatives, state governments, and trade unions, the Textiles Workers Rehabilitation Fund Scheme (TWRFS) is being reviewed. The scheme assists workers of a shutdown of any private mill.
