Companies like Microsoft, HUL, Goldman Sachs, Reliance Industries, Abode, Schumberger, etc have given out PPOs to 260 IIT students. These high numbers even in the face of an economic slowdown correspond to a persistent availability of jobs. IIT’s placement cell believes that companies are building a talent pool that they do not want to miss out on during intermittent unfavourable economic conditions. It’s too early to say whether salaries offered this year are better, and students are being offered packages ranging from 8 to 18 lakhs.
