Data Visual Garment Indonesia: COVID-19 Impact on Factory
What impacts have occurred on factories in the Garment and Textile sector during the COVID-19 pandemic? The following are Data Visuals: COVID-19 Impact on Garment Factory, processed from the results of the Corona Survey that we conducted in May-July 2020.
Gajimu Garmen is a website where people who work in garment sector could find information on wages and labor law. Gajimu Garmen also collects and compares working conditions data from various garment factories through on- and offline surveys. We share our Survey findings in Gajimu.com/Garment which will be available for public, including garment workers, employers, government, buyers, and brands. Check our FAQ.
Despite widespread improvement efforts in Indonesia many garment factories still fail to comply with minimum wage and labour law. Currently, workers and unions do not have access to granular information comparing compliance between factories, limiting the ability for unions to negotiate improvements, for workers to make informed decisions on where to work. The initiative aims to demonstrate:
- how compliance checks of minimum wage and labour laws can raise awareness as well as non-compliance issues
- how comparisons and sample clauses for collective agreements can trigger social dialogues, possibly resulting in improved working conditions on a large scale
- that publication of worker-reported cases of non-compliance on easily accessible Gajimu factory pages can provide buyers, such as international brands, with their suppliers’ performances on the shop floor.
