Switzerland - Unemployment rises - November 30, 2020

Between the 3rd quarter of 2019 and the 3rd quarter of 2020, the number of people employed in Switzerland fell by 0.4% (-21,000). In addition, weekly hours worked per employee decreased by 2.7%. During the same period, the unemployment rate increased from 4.6% to 5.3%. At the end of September 2020, 260,000 workers were without work, an increase of 35,000 compared to the same date in 2019. Those aged 15-24 were worst affected. Unemployment among this group rose from 10.9% to 11.6%.
