Minimum Wages in Bangladesh with effect from 01-12-2018

The minimum rates of wages for any industry may be re-fixed after every five years as may be directed by the Government in any time of the year.

Of the new gross salary of Tk8000, Tk4,100 has been set as basic pay, Tk2,500 as house rent, Tk600 as a medical allowance, Tk350 as a transport allowance and the remaining Tk900 as a food allowance.
Overtime is paid at One and Half times the normal hourly rate of wage.
Holiday pay for work on weekends and public holidays is paid for at a higher rate 1 1/2 times the daily rate or double the rate of remuneration.

Monthly wage are fixed on the basis of number of working hours per day and per week which is 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. According to Bangladesh Labour Act 2006, monthly minimum wage is determined by working hours per week. The normal working hours are 08 hours a day and 48 hours a week
